On August 20, 2024, Valve released updates for CS2 that are of significant importance. The innovations affected some game actions and also launched the testing of new anti-cheat systems.
So, what interesting updates have the developers proposed?
Strict monitoring of movement and shooting automation. Developers decided to curb the possibility of automating movements and using special scripts, through which players could partially automate movements. In particular, the use of the Snap Tap function, which appeared in new keyboards from Razer, is monitored. If this and similar technologies are used, such players will automatically be excluded from CS2 matches. Company representatives explained this decision by stating that hardware features have recently blurred the line between manual input and automation. That's why they decided to delineate what is acceptable and what is not in CS2. Keyboards with Snap Tap and similar functions can be used but must be disabled before entering a match.
Blocking multi-commands. In the shooter, key binds that include multiple commands will be blocked. The commands that will be restricted include aiming, reloading, sprinting, turning right or left, jumping, etc.
Start testing the new version of their anti-cheat system VacNet 3.0. Currently, testing is only conducted in some matches. Under such conditions, erroneous cancellations of matches may occur. If this happens, developers ask players to report it to the Valve company's email. Developers have not yet disclosed what is fundamentally new in this anti-cheat system and how it differs from previous versions.
Audibility of the jump sound. At first glance, this may not seem like a significant change, but in reality, it can substantially affect the gameplay, particularly in making tactical decisions. Now, the sound that confirms a successful grenade throw while a player is jumping will be audible to all nearby players.
The testing of the new system to combat cheating has perhaps been the most significant. It indicates that developers plan to seriously fight cheating tactics for a fair, honest, and thrilling gameplay experience.
